A New Take on a Triathalon: Leadman

Hello Skiers and Boarders,

This week's blog post is going to discuss an awesome event that takes place at Silver Moutain on April 27th call the Leadman Triathalon.  April 27th is the last day of operations at Silver Moutain in Kellogg, Idaho, and they are ending the season with they awesome triathalon event.

This triathalon is much different than similar events.  It can be completed in teams, so really anyone can take part.  Instead of the traditional road race, biking, and swimming, Leadman offers its take on this atheletic endeavor.  During Leadman atheletes complete in a short ski race, followed by a quick descent to town on a mountain bike, and the race ends with a short run through the town of Kellogg.

If you are not interested in completing, you can head up and watch the event from the slopes or town.  It is a blast for eveyone, so don't miss out.  See you at Leadman!!!

A Quick Diversion to the Fishing Hole

Hello Snow Fans,

This week's Skiing in North Idaho blog is going to take a quick diversion and explore the world of fishing in North Idaho with a quick tip on a great fishing location.  If it wasn't for the awesome snow that falls each winter, we would not have the benefits of the tributaries it creates that are full of wonderful varieties of fish.

One of the main waterways to fish in North Idaho that is a bit of a hidden gem is the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River.  To reach the river, take a quick 30 minute drive east on Interstate 90 from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and you will reach the North Fork.  For there find a fishing hole alongs is banks, and the fish should be biting.

Whether you fly fish or prefer spinning, the North Fork has plenty of rainbow, cutthroat, bull and brown trout for the angler.  Remember to follow all fishing rules and regulations when fishing and never fish without a license.  Have fun!!!!
